1990 Pepsi Hotshots season

The 1990 Pepsi Hotshots season was the first year of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Transactions

• Newcomer Pepsi-Cola, took in 6 players from the expansion pool.
• Traded Harmon Codinera to Alaska Milk in the Third Conference in exchange for league pioneer Abet Guidaben.

Season Recap

• Pepsi Hotshots, coach by the comebacking mentor Ed Ocampo and later former San Miguel assistant coach Derick Pumaren, had a forgetable campaign in their first year of participation in the PBA, finishing with a lowly 2-28 record, with two wins coming at the hands of fellow expansion team, Pop Cola.
• Registered their first win in the opening game of the First Conference on February 18, scoring a rousing 149-130 victory over importless Pop Cola, hotshots import Derek Hamilton scored 77 points in that game, Pepsi would lose all their nine remaining elimination round assignments and the first six of the All-Filipino conference for a 15-game losing streak. the hotshots finally broke the long losing slump with a come-from-behind 117-111 victory over Pop Cola.
• In the third conference, San Miguel assistant Derick Pumaren accepted the offer to coach the Pepsi Hotshots, replacing Ed Ocampo, the hotshots were able to acquire veteran center Abet Guidaben, who was traded by Alaska Milk in exchange for Harmon Codinera.
• former PBA import Jose Slaughter returned to replaced the ineffective Aljun Taylor, to teamed up with Jeff Hodge, but the hotshots still failed to win a single game, and were shut out with a 0-win, 10-loss.
